No Reservations (2007)

Starring Catherine Zeta Jones, Aaron Eckhart & Abigail Breslin.

Kate (Jones) is a top chef running her own kitchen at an elite restaurant in NYC. She’s a “take no prisoners” kind of chef and demands only the best. She’s very critical of her staff, and even more so of any customers who may not like her cooking, which is why her boss has her in therapy.

Her sister tragically dies and she must now care for her niece, Zoe (Breslin). As a career woman who puts her entire life into her cooking, she is at a loss for how to meet the demanding needs of a little girl. She has to change her lifestyle a bit and learn to adapt.

Nick (Eckhart) is an Italian chef brought to the restaurant to help with the kitchen while Kate deals with her problems. He is more charismatic than Kate and is a lot more laid back. Kate is taken back when she finds out her boss hired someone new without consulting her first, as it’s “her kitchen”. So now she not only has to deal with a new young girl living with her, but also how to deal with another style chef in her kitchen.

Nick immediately takes a liking to Zoe, and the feeling is mutual. This sparks a better relationship between Kate and Nick as she sees a different man in him as a result.

This is a very heart warming story of love, loss and romance, and will definitely entertain you and leave you feeling warm.

A Walk to Remember (2002)

Starring Mandy Moore, Shane West, Peter Coyote & Daryl Hannah.

Landon Carter (West) is one of the “cool” kids in high school. He’s got loads of friends, he’s athletic and he’s good looking.

Jamie Sullivan (Moore) is the daughter of a very protective local minister. She’s laughed at by a lot of the students because she is quiet and dresses very reserved.

Landon and his friends play a trick on another student at a water outlet, but the prank goes wrong and the student is injured badly. Landon is caught at the scene and part of his punishment is to perform community service at after school events at the school. One of his duties also is to participate in the school play. It just so happens that Jamie is in the play as well.

Landon learns quickly that his acting skills leave a lot to be desired and begs Jamie for assistance in learning his lines. She agrees, under one condition, that he doesn’t fall in love with her. He laughs at this and agrees. He’ll later regret this agreement!

What follows is a great love story which will make you laugh and cry. It’s quite an emotional roller coaster of a film, but will leave you breathless in the end.
